Information on the Prefectural Outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1)

●Schedule Change in Vaccination against Influenza A (H1N1)

Sufficient quantities of the vaccination, both domestically produced and imported from foreign countries, are expected to be secured for all people including vaccination priority group members.  Therefore, the system in which priority appointment periods were set and vaccination dates were decided by lottery has been abolished.

If you wish to receive the vaccination, please inquire at a medical institution on or following January 27th, and await your turn to be vaccinated in the same way as you would for seasonal influenza.

●If you think you have contracted Influenza A H1N1, first consult with your family physician over the phone, put on a medical mask and have a medical examination.
If you do not know where to receive a medical examination, please phone one of the below numbers.
(Fever Medical Referral Service)(Weekdays 8:30 am - 6:00 pm)
058-272-8860(Prefectural Office)
058-252-7191(Gifu City)

●For consultations outside the above hours and for health consultations for patients recuperating at home, please look at the information material.

Those at high-risk:
In addition to senior citizens of age 65 or above, infants and small children, women who are pregnant, and those with underlying medical conditions such as chronic cardiopulmonary diseases, diabetes and kidney disease (high-risk groups), may be at risk for developing severe symptoms or health conditions, should they be infected. For this reason, if you are a member of one of these groups please seek immediate medical attention should you experience influenza-like symptoms.

As with normal flu, there are effective prevention measures for Influenza A (H1N1)
・When coughing or sneezing cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief to prevent spray.
・When returning home and before meals, gargle and wash your hands.
・Get sufficient sleep and eat healthily.
・Keep indoor temperature and humidity at an appropriate level.
・When going out, wear a mask and as much as possible, avoid large crowds.
・At present, treatment using Tamiflu and Relenza is thought to be effective against swine flu.
